David Maybrick is not only the director of A.K.A, Looking for Vi and Blue Eyed Son, he also trained as an actor at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales.
He has appeared in programmes such as Holby City, The Bill, Midsomer Murders, Casualty, Call the Midwife, Coronation Street and Downton Abbey. Most recently he was seen in Stephen Frears Quiz. And just prior to the coronavirus lockdown filmed an episode of The Crown. He previously wrote, directed and starred in Blue Eyed Son, a short film that was screened widely on the festival circuit in 2010. But for his next project was keen to act solely as Director. Dave also studied directing with Brian Gilbert at the NFTS. Like most film-makers, Dave spent a lot of his teens shooting anything that moved on his Super 8mm, or at the cinema with like-minded friends. Making films is all he's ever really wanted to do. Toni Staples is the producer behind Newland Films projects. 2020 marks her 30th year in the industry. Working her way up through the Assistant Directors Department.
Toni has been a First Assistant Director for 20 years, working on some of the biggest dramas made in Britain. It's tough to get a break in this business, and she got hers through Sandy Staples; her mother who was a well respected Make-Up Designer. Starting as a PA/Floor Runner on set means you learn as an apprentice the old fashioned way, from people that have been in the industry for a very long time. Her film credits include Anton Corbijn's Control, The Sense of an Ending, Paddington 2, Final Score, Tolkien, Official Secrets, and BAFTA winning Director, Philippa Lowthorpe's Misbehaviour starring Keira Knightley. The last film Toni worked on before the coronavirus lockdown was Supernova written and directed by Harry Macqueen and starring Colin Firth and Stanley Tucci. Some of her TV credits include Wolf Hall, Wallander, The Boy with the Topknot, Cider with Rosie, Sherlock, Luther, Hamlet, Call the Midwife, Spooks, Dead Set and Da Vinci's Demons. But what she really wants to do is make her own films. Toni is represented by Alison Law at McKinney Macartney Management. http://www.mckinneymacartney.com For a full list of credits please check IMDB. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0822932/ |
